To explain further, the thermal seal is a heat-insulating joint that provides an airtight connection between the panes of glass. Why not repair a double-glazed unit with a faulty seal?

1. Impossibility of quality leakage restoration

the thermal seal is a complex system of two layers of sealant, which is created in the factory under strict control. At home or in the field, it is impossible to fully restore the chamber's tightness, especially if moisture has already entered the chamber.

2. Condensation has already appeared inside

as soon as the seal is broken, moisture and air penetrate the inter-glass space. This leads to fogging of the insulating glass unit, scaling, mold and corrosion. Even if the moisture is removed (e.g. by drying), vapor re-entry will still occur because the sealing has not been restored.

3. Reduced energy efficiency

a damaged thermal joint means that the insulating effect of the air or gas chamber (e.g. argon) is lost. The window starts to let in cold and becomes less noise-insulating. After repair, it is difficult to achieve the same performance as a new double-glazed window.

4. High cost and low efficiency of repair

the cost of professional repair (drying + drilling + installation of the valve) can be up to 50-70% of the cost of a new double-glazed window.At the same time, guarantees for such repairs are usually minimal or absent, and the result is temporary.
